Freedom

From what do you need to be freed?

Luke 1:68 is the opening verse of a prayer, “The Canticle of Zechariah,” that some Catholics pray every morning:

Blessed be the Lord,
The God of Israel;
He has come to His people and set them free.

Lately I’ve been stuck on this verse, and the question it raises:

From what do I need freedom?

I keep coming up with new answers – some of which I will share at some point – but for now, I just wanted to share that question with you, because once you start asking it, you will see more and more of the Bible as a story of God freeing people, and you may see more and more parts of your life that beg for the hope of being freed.

From what do you need to be freed?
